How this is measured

By kit: every champion's win rate, damage split, crowd control, range and role shares, pooled across every game and compared by cosine similarity. This finds mechanical twins — Aatrox next to Renekton — from the toolset alone, with no idea who actually plays either one.

By player co-play: which champions the same real players pick up, weighted by mastery points and how recently they played each one, computed across millions of accounts without ever looking at who any individual player is. This finds Morgana next to Lux — different kits entirely, but the same kind of player gravitates to both.

Overall match: the two blended evenly into one score. It is the pick to lead with, because either signal alone throws away real information the other one has: the two lists only overlap 13% at the top.

What actually showed up

Morgana's kit alone points at Brand and Zyra — other ranged mages with a similar burst-and-poke profile. But her real co-play neighbor, by a wide margin, is Lux: different kit, same kind of player, both built around landing a slow projectile root and following it up. The blended score pulls Lux into Morgana's top 3 where kit alone never would have. Compare that to Sett and Darius, where kit says they are nearly identical bruisers — and co-play agrees, because the same players who main one usually play the other.
