Drafting guides

Your champion pool in draft

The champions you know well are your strongest picks more often than a tier list suggests. Here is what experience on a champion is worth, measured.

How it works

Experience is a real advantage

Knowing a champion means knowing its limits, its power spikes and its matchups. That knowledge shows up as win rate, and a new champion takes many games to catch up.

Two or three champions per role

A small pool you know well, with one safe blind pick and one answer for bad matchups, covers most drafts without leaving you on something unfamiliar.

Learn the meta pick, don't force it

A champion near the top of the tier list still needs games before it pays off for you. Play it in normal games first, then bring it to ranked.

Know when to leave your pool

If a matchup is unplayable for every champion you know, a simple, strong pick can be better than your main. Keep one such champion ready.
